Amazon now delivers groceries to garages in over 5,000 cities.

Amazon is to expand in-garage delivery to every city where grocery deliveries are available. The company says Key by Amazon Grocery Delivery is available in over 5,000 cities, allowing shoppers to have Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods orders delivered to their garage. Check to see if the service is available for you through the Amazon website

Garage Grocery Delivery was originally made available for Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco in November 2020. The expansion means the service reaches more customers. You’ll need to have a MyQ-enabled garage door opener or a MyQ Smart Garage Hub for a garage delivery.

If you meet all the requirements, choose the “Key Delivery” option at checkout and have the groceries dropped off in your garage. You can even watch the delivery through a Ring camera if you aren’t at home.

Since entering the grocery business after purchasing Whole Foods for $13.7 billion in 2017, Amazon has focused on simplifying the process so it’s as easy to purchase groceries as it is to purchase anything else. Having an option for someone to come into your garage to deliver food is clearly an endpoint for the plan.

Amazon has also been looking to streamline in-store experiences for customers. The company opened several Amazon Fresh stores that use a Dash shopping cart. The company also announced plans to let people pay with their palm at Whole Foods stores.
